Ann from Jabberjays and Alexandria from HungerGamesTrilogy gave us the most popular choices named by their readers. What do you think of this casting? Let us know in the comments below.
Katniss: Born in District Twelve, the poorest district, Katniss struggles to survive with her mother and younger sister. After her father's death five years earlier, she became the breadwinner and learned to hunt for her family's food. Now 16, she volunteers to enter the Games to prevent her sister from becoming the Tribute.
Fan Choice: Mia Wasikowska
"She emulates the character perfectly for me. Her performance in HBO's In Treatment solidifies her as Katniss for me. Her ability to be strong, yet emotional, is the reason why I think she'd be a great Katniss. When I read the books she was the ONLY person I could see in my head. She's a future Oscar-winning performer. Which is why she's perfect." — Mione134
Gale: Best friend and hunting partner of Katniss, he knows her the best. Both characters support their families and have lost their fathers in a mining accident. Devoted to Katniss, Gale is rebellious in nature and will fight to protect his own.
Fan Choice: Drew Roy
"He is the perfect Gale. He has the same olive skin and dark hair. He is how I pictured Gale throughout the series." — guitarfreak94
Peeta: The same age as Katniss, this upper-class son of a local baker is picked as the male Tribute in the 74th Annual Hunger Games. Peeta first noticed Katniss when she was five, when he heard her singing at school. It's not just his economic status that's behind his nickname, "The Boy with the Bread": He gave an 11-year-old Katniss bread to save her and her starving family.
Fan Choice: William Moseley
"He is the PERFECT Peeta! He looks exactly like Peeta would look. I pictured William Moseley through the entire book! ...He has that cute boyish charm and he looks like he would be so sweet. He is relatively "fresh faced," which is what they should look for. I can't picture anyone else playing the sweet and gentle Peeta." — guitarfreak94
Consider Also: Alex Pettyfer
"I can't remember the last time I've seen him act but he has sexy blond locks, beautiful blue eyes, and a great smile. :) Also, he just looks REALLY nice but mysterious." — hglvr03
Prim: When the 12-year-old sister of Katniss is initially chosen to participate in the Hunger Games, Katniss volunteers in her place, preventing her sister's near-certain death.
Fan Choice: Chloe Moretz
"If Chloe Moretz is going to be anyone, she should be Prim. She's too girly and innocent and sort of angel-like (in a kid way) for Katniss. She would be a great Prim if she were a little younger." — hglvr03
Consider Also: Elle Fanning
"She's so cute! She looks very innocent and she is around the same age as Prim." — guitarfreak94
Haymitch: The only living winner of the Hunger Games in District 12, he's the drunken, yet clever, man who coaches Katniss on how to play and survive the Games.
Fan Choice: Johnny Depp
"Yes, I know this is not probable, but he is perfect for the alcohol-loving Haymich. He has played the drunk part before (Jack Sparrow) and was wonderful. Plus, he says "sweetheart" so wonderfully — haha. These movies can't have all-new actors, and he would be the perfect draw for people who have never read the books." — guitarfreak94
Consider Also: Liam Neeson
"Liam Nesson can play the drunk but strong willed Haymitch. His performance in every movie is great. I think he would be perfect for the role." — Mione134
