Some movies are so bad that they beg for every copy being thrown in a landfill out in the Nevada desert, that landfill being paved over, and the location hidden from future generations. Or better yet, beg for all copies of the movie to be sent straight to the sun. But then there are others that were not predestined for the trash heap — with better choices, they could have been good movies. In Rewind, we take it upon ourselves to right those cinematic wrongs.
Hard as it may be to believe, and despite the movie's reputation, there is a core element of Battlefield Earth that isn't bad. It's just wrapped in so many layers of poor acting, cheap-looking CGI, and flat-out puzzling dialogue that it can be easy to forget that there's a movie about an intergalactic battle for the fate of humanity going on in the background — and in almost every other case, that is exciting. The easiest way to fix Battlefield Earth would be to just show Star Wars and change the title, since that's what the movie wants, oh so badly, to be. With George Lucas likely to frown on that, we decided on some smaller tweaks that, while not likely to result in an instant classic, would at least knock it out of being in the top 10 worst movies ever made — surely, at least down to somewhere in the worst 80 or 90.
