What to Wear
For this kind of party, pajamas or sweats are the way to go. Pretty much anything that's stretchy and comfortable will work. This is also definitely a good night to sport any Team Edward or Team Jacob T-shirts.
How to Decorate
There's a couple of different ways to go for girls' night decorations. If you already have a bunch of Twilight magazines, posters, and merchandise, pull it all out and get crazy covering everything in sight with pictures of Taylor Lautner and/or Robert Pattinson. If you're not that brand of twi-hard, go to a party store and buy a whole bunch of inexpensive, sort of baby shower decorations — think pink crepe-paper garland, and giant plastic rattles. After all, you are celebrating Renesmee's birth and Bella's re-birth, right? It'll be a fun twist, and definitely not your standard vampire décor. One word of advice: Definitely do not do the baby shower theme for a romantic night with your boyfriend. A typical guy will go into complete panic if he walks in for a romantic dinner and finds everything covered in baby shower decorations. On the other hand, if he were to get super excited about the baby shower decor, he'd probably be pretty disappointed to find out that the celebration is for Bella and Edward's baby.
What to Watch
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, obviously. It may seem tempting to watch all 5 in order, but keep in mind that will add up to a good 10 hours of movie watching. If you don't have that much time, or if everyone is really just excited about seeing Breaking Dawn - Part 2, maybe just do both parts of Breaking Dawn. On the other hand, if you and your group of friends are the world's biggest twi-hards, make sure you have some breakfast foods ready to go for the morning and really make a night of it.
What to Drink
Drink for blood-suckers of all ages
What better way to celebrate the arrival of Renesmee Cullen to the world than by drinking some blood? Hmm… Maybe that's not such a good idea. Instead, try a tasty punch that only looks kind of like blood.
Mix 1 part pomegranate juice with 1 part lemon-lime soda and a generous splash of grenadine. Serve in a Styrofoam cup with a straw, and hope the half-vampire baby doesn't crush your organs!
Granted, the pomegranate juice by itself looks a little like blood, but it's really too tart to drink alone during an entire movie marathon.
Cocktail for the undead and of age
For those fans who are old enough to drink, a cocktail may be in order. Try some Blood Clot Shooters. Sweet shots are decidedly more of a girls' night thing than a romantic night situation. Keep in mind, it's easy to go overboard on tasty shots, so pace yourself and take it easy. This is just a mellow night with the girls, after all. We recommend making the movie night a sleepover if you're drinking.
What to Eat
Salty Movie Snack
For any movie marathon, popcorn is a good idea, but stick with the theme and pop some red kernels for a snack. Sure, they'll look normal when they're popped, but they'll look like creepy, bloody teeth beforehand.
Sweet Movie Snack
For something sweet to snack on, try some brigadieros — a traditional Brazilian party candy. It's a delicious way to pay tribute to Bella and Edward's bed-breaking Brazilian honeymoon. The candy's traditionally made with sugar, milk, butter, and cocoa, but here's our take on the South American treat.
• 1 oz unsweetened baking chocolate, chopped
• 1 can sweetened condensed milk
• Chocolate sprinkles or chopped nuts
• Oil or butter
Pour condensed milk into medium saucepan then stir in chopped chocolate. Heat over a medium-low flame until chocolate melts completely, then turn heat up to medium high. Stir constantly for several minutes. When the mixture is thick enough that it doesn't immediately drop from a spoon, take it off the heat. It should be close to the consistency of caramel.
Spread mixture out on to a small pan lined with some foil or wax paper. This stuff is super sticky, so lining the pan will help with clean up. Don't try to spread the mixture out completely, just enough that it cools quickly. Place in fridge for 20-30 minutes. After candy has cooled, roll the mixture into small balls and then roll the balls in some chocolate sprinkles. Be sure to butter or oil your hands before you start rolling, and keep the oil handy. This sticky stuff can get messy very quickly.
Variations: Try stirring in your favorite flavored syrup (or liqueur) to the mixture right after it comes off the heat. Chocolate sprinkles are customary but chopped pecans or shredded coconut are also good choices.
There are plenty of options, here. You could go with Bella's favorite food — a cheeseburger with three pickles covered in ketchup and mustard. Or you could go always go with pizza. It fits in with the theme because it's widely cited as Jacob's favorite food. To tie it in even more directly to Twilight, try this pizza recipe that one fan dedicated to her favorite werewolf/shape-shifter.
If you're looking for something more substantial than pizza or burgers, you could always try Steak à la Rosalie. It's simple. All you do is prepare steak and baked potatoes and serve in (brand new) dog bowls. A warning to any Team Edward hosts who decide to serve this dish only to her Team Jacob guests: Your werewolf-loving guests may find the presentation offensive rather than delightful.
Seriously? Salad for a girls' movie night? There is a time and place for salad, and this is not it. Crudités with ranch dressing is the closest thing to salad we can recommend in good conscience.
"Venom and Blood" Soda
• 1 bottle of black cherry–flavored soda per guest — the darker the better
• Chocolate Syrup
• Vanilla Ice Cream
Pour a little bit of the soda (an ounce or two) into the bottom of a glass. Stir in a few squirts of chocolate syrup and mix thoroughly. The chocolate tends to not want to mix in but it will eventually. (The soda will lose most of its carbonation while mixing, so that's why you want to combine the syrup with just a little soda.) When it is combined, add remaining soda until the glass is about 2/3 full. Top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Of course the brownish-red soda is supposed to look like blood… And the ice cream melting kind of looks like the vampire venom invading the blood stream, right? Too much of a stretch?
Have a great time with your Breaking Dawn – Part 2 movie night, and remember, it's only a few weeks until The Host is in theaters.
