Having seen Star Trek multiple times (yes, we are nerds), some scenes began to feel really familiar. Logic (thank you, Spock) would dictate that the familiarity would be due to repeat viewings of the movie. Upon further research, however, we discovered some key moments in Star Trek may have come from other classic movies. But don't take our word for it. Judge for yourself.
George Kirk stoically says goodbye to his wife while flying his spacecraft to its doom.
Armageddon -- Bruce Willis bids his daughter, Liv Tyler, goodbye as he gives his life to save the world. The only thing missing from the Trek scene? Aerosmith!
Kirk, Sulu, and the Red Shirt do some extreme parachuting to land on the Romulan ship's drill.
Point Break -- The extreme parachuting Johnny and Bhodi do toward the end of the movie. Line in both movies: "Pull the chute!"
Sulu uses fire exhaust from the drill to rid himself of an attacker.
The Princess Bride -- When Wesley is able to use the Fire Swamps to fight of an attack by an R.O.U.S.
An arrogant Kirk gets scolded in front of his peers by Admiral Richard Barnett (Tyler Perry).
Madea's Family Reunion -- When Madea dishes out life lessons and tongue lashings to whoever needs to hear it. (OK, that may be a bit of a stretch, but am we the only ones who wanted to see some of that Madea spark go off on Kirk?)
The cocky and headstrong Kirk constantly butts heads with the practical and overly confident Spock. Ultimately, they realize that by working together they are the strongest.
Top Gun -- Maverick and Ice Man, need we say more?
