Late last night Summit Entertainment confirmed what Twilighters have assumed for a while: Breaking Dawn, the fourth book in Stephenie Meyer's series, will be split into two movies.
Fans can breathe a sigh of relief at the announcement, which also confirms that all the main cast members will be returning for both movies — yes, even Ashley Greene (Alice) and Kellan Lutz (Emmett). more on Summit's news, plus fan reaction >> Posted 06.11.10 by reelz
There's been rumor and speculation since last summer that Stephenie Meyer's final Twilight Saga installment would be two movies. Well, now it's official.
Deadline Hollywood reports that it has the news from several sources.
Filming on the back-to-back movies would begin in mid-October, and Summit Entertainment is looking at "high-end" directors. Breaking Dawn is the longest in Stephenie Meyer's 4-book series lengthwise and it's the most graphic -- presenting birth, attempted murder, death, and of course vampire bites. Published on August 2, 2008, it has a happy ending for most of the characters. Divided into 3 parts, the 1st and 3rd sections are told from the point of view of Bella (Kristen Stewart), and the second section from the perspective of Jacob (Taylor Lautner). It prominently features all 3 favorite characters including Edward (Robert Pattinson). Summit Entertainment no doubt will save money by making these Twilight Saga movies #4 and #5 back to back. Screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg (who's written all the Twilight Saga films) is currently adapting Breaking Dawn.
The report also included news on the forthcoming graphic novel version of the first novel, Twilight.
Due to the length of the prose novel, the book will be divided into 2 volumes and the release date for the second volume is forthcoming. Containing selected text from Meyer's original novel with illustrations by Korean artist Young Kim, it's a fusion of Asian and Western comic techniques in mostly black-and-white with color interspersed throughout. Novelist Meyer consulted throughout the artistic process and had input on every panel. Posted 02.11.10 by reelz
As if one new New Moon scene wasn't enough, Yahoo! has premiered a brand-new Volturi clip, complete with talking Aro, vampire action, and a very pale Edward (Robert Pattinson) getting his ass kicked.
Although this never happens in the book, Melissa Rosenberg looks to have done a great job spicing up the script, and has added more male-audience-friendly action. Aro (Michael Sheen), Marcus (Christopher Heyerdahl), and Caius (Jamie Campbell Bower) are finally seen in action, with Felix (Daniel Cudmore) and Demetri (Charlie Bewley) doing a stellar job as Volturi guards. Now, if only Bella (Kristen Stewart) didn't look so deer-in-the-headlights, we'd all be happy. Posted 10.22.09 by reelz
While talking to E! Online, Twilight Saga screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg addressed the more-Edward-in-New-Moon rumors, as well as her personal pick for the character of Riley in Eclipse. She said:
In the book, [Edward]'s actually an enormous presence in [Bella's] mind. He's so present in her mind throughout the entire center of the book, so we really played off that, and it kept him alive in a slightly different way, but fans will feel it's true to the book. You can't have a Twilight without Rob Pattinson.
Whether this will go down well with fans is anyone's guess, as they're all very protective of the original source material. And rightly so, too. Why change an element that is adored by millions of Twilighters?
Rosenberg also talked about Channing Tatum, and how she feels he'd be perfect for the role of Riley in Eclipse. Well, he's definitely got the beefcake look going on, but a vampire? Hmm. He'd have to perfect a mean I'm-going-to-eat-you look first. Posted 04.28.09 by reelz
