While he has been more wrong than right, we have to give Kick-Ass comic book co-creator Mark Millar credit. At long last, his insistence that Kick-Ass 2 was in the works has turned out to be true.
In February, Millar said a sequel to 2010's Kick-Ass would start shooting this summer, which was hard to take seriously since Millar had made similar comments several times before, starting with the proclamation that the sequel would start production in 2011 for a planned 2012 release (which clearly never happened). However, according to Deadline, Millar is finally right this time, and Kick-Ass 2 is now a reality.

Earlier this month, comic book writer Mark Millar said a sequel to Kick-Ass will begin in "nine months," after director Matthew Vaughn finished work on his upcoming X-Men: First Class adaptation. Moviefone caught up with Kick-Ass actor Aaron Johnson, who revealed that the wait for the sequel, titled Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall, could be a little longer than Millar stated.

After a photo surfaced online last month showing director Matthew Vaughn with his Kick-Ass star, Aaron Johnson, and James McAvoy, recently cast in the lead role of Prof. X in Vaughn's new movie, X-Men: First Class, rumors began spreading that Johnson would also be joining the X-Men prequel. It was speculated that Johnson might portray Scott Summers, aka Cyclops, the mutant with the devastating red eye blasts portrayed by James Marsden in the original trilogy.
Now, AICN is reporting that two different sources have confirmed that Johnson is "one hundred percent locked" in the role of young Cyclops. Obviously, this is still just another rumor in a long list of recent rumors about the movie, but if it turns out to be true the official confirmation should be forthcoming as First Class is expected to go into production in the next couple months.

Quite possibly the most unlikely actor to ever portray a superhero, Christopher "McLovin" Mintz-Plasse stars in director Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass as "Red Mist," a crimson-and-ebony clad hero who sports an Adam Lambert haircut and drives around in his pimped-out "Mist Mobile" looking for evil-doers. However, Mintz-Plasse recently revealed that Red Mist doesn't really see any action in the movie. Not only that, but he may not be the hero that he purports to be. Caution: SPOILERS AHEAD.

The diminutive tween vigilante Mindy Macready, aka Hit Girl (Chloe Moretz), is the star of the latest TV spot for Kick-Ass. At the center of the controversy surrounding her character's violent tactics and liberal use of the f- and c-words, Moretz is predicted to be the breakout star of the movie, with Mark Millar, the creator of the comic book on which the movie was based, comparing her to a young Jodie Foster.

Lionsgate has released, via Yahoo! Movies, another new clip from director Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass. This one is shorter than the two clips most recently released, but it stays away from the ultra-violence they depicted by showing the comedic side of being a costumed superhero.
When Dave "Kick-Ass" Lizewski (Aaron Johnson) responds to an email by showing up at the fan's house in costume, the frightened girl (Lyndsy Fonseca) reacts as any normal person would when confronted by a masked intruder in her house — she goes on the attack!

With the release of director Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass fast approaching, the promotional push for the movie is now in high gear. Two new TV spots for the movie about four non-powered costumed vigilantes taking the law into their own hands have been hitting the airwaves (or the fiber optic cables, as the case may be) lately and Lionsgate has also released two new extended scene clips.
The first TV spot briefly introduces the concept of the movie with Dave "Kick-Ass" Lizewski (played by Aaron Johnson) asking, "How come nobody's ever tried to be a superhero?"
