One of the hallmarks of he-man action movies of the '80s and '90s is the one-liner, that sometimes cheesy, often awesome, but definitely memorable signature line, typically delivered just before or immediately after a knock-down, drag-out fight between the hero and the villain (or one of the villain's many henchmen). It's hard to say exactly when the one-liner became a necessary fixture of action movies, but we'll give the credit (or blame, depending upon your point of view) to Arnold Schwarzenegger, whose movies have generated so many classic zingers that they're too numerous to mention. The practice was so common by 1991, in fact, that the Bruce Willis-led action movie The Last Boy Scout ends with Willis' character telling his new sidekick (Damon Wayans), "This is the '90s. You can't just walk up and slap a guy, you have to say something cool first."
With so many veteran action stars appearing in The Expendables 2 — exploding onto movie screens nationwide today! — we thought it would be fun to look back at some of the awesome one-liners delivered by various cast members in some of their more iconic roles. The first full-length trailer for the upcoming The Expendables 2 was released last month and provided plenty of action and explosions for Sylvester Stallone and his company of aging action stars to contend with.
The latest trailer is no different, providing plenty of action, and injecting a few moments of humor, including a Terminator joke at Arnold Schwarzenegger's expense, as well as as more footage of Chuck Norris, including a shot of Norris, Schwarzenegger, Stallone, Bruce Willis and Jason Statham all lined up and firing their machine guns before the trailer goes down its long list of stars. There isn't much story revealed, so, if you must know, Expendables 2 sees Stallone and company out for revenge after one of their own is murdered.

There was a good reason 2010's The Expendables went on to earn $274 million worldwide: The movie harkened back to the testosterone-fueled action movies of the 1980s and '90s, with actor-writer-director Sylvester Stallone gathering several action stars from that era and putting them into one movie.
As is customary in sequels, the ante has been upped for The Expendables 2, with Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, and Terry Crews all returning as the Expendables mercenary team. The sequel brings back Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis in expanded roles as rival merc Trent Hauser and the mysterious Mr. Church, respectively, and it also adds other recognizable action stars: Jean-Claude Van Damme as the sequel's villain and Chuck Norris in a still-unspecified role. Then there's the sequel's youth infusion, with Liam Hemsworth as sniper Billy the Kid and Yu Nan as the only female Expendable, Maggie.

Producer Mark Canton let it slip on The Matthew Aaron Show (via AICN) that Jim Caviezel has joined the cast of The Tomb, the upcoming action-thriller that will again reunite actors Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone. The movie will follow Stallone as Ray Breslin, a security expert who is framed and must break free from a prison of his own design. With Schwarzenegger set to play another inmate, Canton said that Caviezel will play the warden of the prison.
Set to start production in Louisiana this spring under the direction of Mikael Håfström (The Rite), The Tomb was written by Miles Chapman, with a rewrite by Jason Keller (Machine Gun Preacher). Stallone and Schwarzenegger can also be seen together in this summer's The Expendables 2.

Last month, it was revealed that Atmosphere Entertainment and Emmett-Furla Films were in talks with Arnold Schwarzenegger about joining the cast of The Tomb, an action-thriller that would see the former "Governator" teaming up with Sylvester Stallone for the first time outside of the Expendables movies. Yesterday, the production companies, in association with distributor Summit Entertainment, sent out a press release announcing that Schwarzenegger has signed on to star opposite Stallone in the movie, which will be directed by Swedish filmmaker Mikael Håfström (The Rite).

It has been confirmed that Summit Entertainment and Emmett/Furla Films has approached Arnold Schwarzenegger regarding a role in their upcoming movie, The Tomb. According to The Wrap, Schwarzenegger has not made it past beginning discussions with director Mikael Hafstrom, but Sylvester Stallone is already on board to star in the movie. The two actors worked previously on The Expendables and will reprise their roles in the sequel, due this August. Previoiusly, Bruce Willis and Schwarzenegger, were both considered for the role in which Stallone landed. No word yet on whether Willis is being considered for any other role in The Tomb.
Set to hit theaters in 2013, The Tomb is about the head of a security consulting firm who has is imprisoned in a high tech prison that he designed himself. Falsely accused, he must find a way to escape or die trying.

Last August, writer-director-actor Sylvester Stallone stuffed enough current and former action stars into The Expendables to win audiences over and earn $274 million worldwide. Stallone instantly started talking about a sequel, using his Twitter to declare he wanted Bruce Willis back as a "supervillain" in the movie.
While we're not entirely sure of his intentions, Willis is back for The Expendables 2, along with fellow Expendables scene partner Arnold Schwarzenegger, with both actors having a more "substantial" role in the sequel, which has an even more expanded cast than the original. Strangely, details on the sequel have been scarce — a plot synopsis was revealed in May and involved the Expendables avenging the death of Mickey Rourke's character Tool, but was quickly dismissed. Fortunately, along with the teaser trailer comes a synopsis as well.
The Expendables are back and this time it's personal... Barney Ross (Stallone), Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), Yin Yang (Jet Li), Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren), Toll Road (Randy Couture) and Hale Caesar (Terry Crews) — with newest members Billy the Kid (Liam Hemsworth) and Maggie (Yu Nan) aboard — are reunited when Mr. Church (Willis) enlists the Expendables to take on a seemingly simple job. The task looks like an easy paycheck for Barney and his band of old-school mercenaries. But when things go wrong and one of their own is viciously killed, the Expendables are compelled to seek revenge in hostile territory where the odds are stacked against them. Hell-bent on payback, the crew cuts a swath of destruction through opposing forces, wreaking havoc and shutting down an unexpected threat in the nick of time — six pounds of weapons-grade plutonium; enough to change the balance of power in the world. But that's nothing compared to the justice they serve against the villainous adversary who savagely murdered their brother. That is done the Expendables way.

The scene between Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis and Sylvester Stallone in last year's The Expendables was the most memorable and advertised moment of the movie, so when it came to the sequel, it was no surprise that Schwarzenegger and Willis were brought back in expanded roles.
Shooting commenced on The Expendables 2 at the end of last month, and Schwarzenegger has taken to his Twitter to post the first photo from the Bulgaria set, well before any "spy" set photos have made it online.
Back in action for The Expendables 2! I'm having a fantastic time on set with Bruce and Sly in Bulgaria.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis only showed up for one scene in actor-writer-director Sylvester Stallone's 2010 hit Expendables, but the two action stars are set to return for more in the Lionsgate sequel.
Deadline reports that both Schwarzenegger and Willis have inked their deals for The Expendables 2, which will be directed by Simon West (Con Air). The roles are being described as "substantial", meaning that Willis and Schwarzenegger will do more than cameo. Stallone has said that he would like to see Willis play "a super villain," or likely a "super villain" version of his Expendables character, but nothing is confirmed yet.
