It's just a little over two weeks until the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, and Warner Bros. is keeping a steady stream of clips and featurettes coming. The first featurette, released three weeks ago, showcased an early screen test with stars Daniel Radcliffe (Harry), Emma Watson (Hermione), and Rupert Grint (Ron).
This new featurette explains horcruxes and touches on a small deviation from the book that will be included in the movie. Radcliffe and director David Yates explain that Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) slowly loses his mind as the different portions of his soul are destroyed one by one. This is definitely a pretty small change from the book (where it was explained that Voldemort's soul was so decimated that he couldn't tell it was being destroyed), but could add some dimension to the profoundly evil character. It's certainly a better change than the attack on the Burrow that movie makers added to Half-Blood Prince.

Last week, a bootleg version of the opening scene from the upcoming sequel, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, was leaked online. The scene showed Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) discussing the Elder Wand with Mr. Ollivander (John Hurt), and was captured by someone using a video camera to record a television in a version of the scene that included English subtitles despite the fact that the scene was already in English.
A new featurette gives fans a high-res look at the scene (sans subtitles) and blends in new footage with footage of a previously released behind-the-scenes featurette, including interviews with producers David Heyman and David Barron, and a special introduction from director David Yates.

Quick, close your eyes! Too late? Oh, well. If you know anything about the magical world of Harry Potter that J.K. Rowling created, then you already know that everything that has come before in the Warner Bros. movie adaptations has been leading up to the inevitable confrontation between "The Boy Who Lived," aka Harry Potter (played by Daniel Radcliffe), and "He Who Must Not Be Named," aka Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes). Now, Brazilian pop culture site Judao has posted online a leaked image from the set—note the very un-Potter sepia color of the image and the set piece at the back right-hand side of the stage—of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 that depicts a haggard but determined Harry Potter marching through the rubble of what was once Hogwarts, wand in hand, surrounded by bodies, during what can only be the climactic final battle between Harry and Voldemort.

This summer, the Harry Potter franchise will come to an end with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. The sequel picks up where Part 1 left off, with Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Hermione (Emma Watson), and Ron (Rupert Grint) preparing for the final battle with Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes), with Harry potentially having to make the ultimate sacrifice to defeat the dark wizard.
A new, behind the scenes featurette for the movie debuted on ABC Family, and offers a first look at footage from the movie, as well as interviews with the Racliffe, Watson, Grint, producers David Heyman and David Barron, and director David Yates.

As Harry Potter fans well know, it's only a few days before Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 opens in theaters, beginning a two-part ending to the beloved book and movie franchise created by author J.K. Rowling. Daniel Radcliffe, who has grown up playing Potter for the past ten years, admitted in a recent interview with ComingSoon that he was "devastated" when production wrapped on the movie, thus ending his run as the boy wizard, but was "very proud to have been a part of a franchise that has become pretty renowned." What he was not proud of was his performance in the previous sequel, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Harry Potter fans aren't confused about what's going to happen in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, but for those few that haven't been paying close attention to the franchise — both movie and print — Warner Bros. has released a new featurette to Yahoo!Movies that describes what Harry, Ron, and Hermione will be facing in this first part of the epic finale. The clip includes interviews with Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, and director David Yates.

In the first official photo from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, we see Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Ron (Rupert Grint), and Hermione (Emma Watson) all very serious and determined — and apparently spoiling for a fight. It's exactly this sense that our heroes are headed into a whole new world of darkness that they're aiming for in the two-part finale to the Harry Potter series.
Talking to USA Today, director David Yates sets the tone:
It's going to feel very real. We're going for a verte approach. Being away from Hogwarts, they're like these three refugees on the run. They're out in the big bad world, facing real danger, unguarded by those wonderful benign wizards at Hogwarts. They don't have a home to go to. We're kind of pulling away from the magic a bit and bringing more reality to it.
Grint sounds a similar theme:
They're paranoid. It's quite a scary world because the Snatchers and Death Eaters are running around everywhere. Harry, Ron, and Hermione are just camping out in random places, living rough, in regular clothes.
It may be a rough ride for the wizards, but it sounds like some serious thrills are in store for the audience.

While fans won't get a new Harry Potter movie in theaters this season — last year's schedule bump changed that rhythm — they do get a new DVD. On December 8, The Half-Blood Prince releases.
Unsurprisingly, the sixth installment in the Potter series had some book-to-movie plot changes, a necessity when adapting such rich books. That said, there were a few changes that surprised us and left us wondering how they would affect the final two movies.
We surveyed top Harry Potter fansites to see what movie changes they believed was most significant for the Deathly Hallows, as well as how they thought/hoped David Yates would deal with those changes. Find out what they told us.

With Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince debuting in just a few days, filmmakers and stars have already started ramping up expectations for the series' two-part finale. At a New York press conference, director David Yates revealed that shooting for the first part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is roughly 85% complete, and since the movies are being shot in tandem, about 10% of the shooting for the second part has been done as well.
The two parts are going to be quite different though, the director explained:
The first movie is a road movie basically, and it's quite intense and very raw and we're way away from Hogwarts, and it's a bit like three refugees being pursued across the landscape by these terrible Death Eaters. We're really enjoying it actually. It feels very different. ... The first one is very verité and documentary and edgy and on the road, and the second part is a big opera basically, a great big epic with huge battles and very oddly moving, because it concludes the whole saga really. So they're two very different films.
Not only will they be different from each other, but a big change from what came before as well, according to Daniel Radcliffe:
I'm so excited about the seventh film. I don't know if anybody else had the same experience as me over the last couple of days, but seeing the sixth film again, it does suddenly strike me that we are doing something very, very different with the seventh film.
As to the precise details of the movies, where part one will end, and exactly what the movies will and will not include, filmmakers were a bit more circumspect. And some key issues haven't been resolved yet.
Different ideas for how to do the final scene, in which the characters 19 years later are sending their own children off to Hogwarts are still being explored. "Probably not Benjamin Button technology," Yates says. But producer David Heyman adds, "We're going to do everything we can and it will be Dan, Rupert and Emma in those parts, not some other actors."

Actress Emma Watson, famous for her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter series of films, recently revealed that she would be taking a break from acting to attend college and that she may never return to the craft. However, her co-star, Daniel Radcliffe, who plays "the boy who lived," doesn't feel the same need to hit the books:
I didn't want to go [to university], it's as simple as that. I think most people go to establish their identity and what they want to do career-wise. I know what I want to do, more or less. Other people go to meet people from different backgrounds and that happens naturally on a film set. That's not to say I'm going to stop learning. I read a lot. I still have English lessons once a week, without the pressure of exams or essays. I have my own teacher and we basically chat about books and poems. In an ideal world that should be the way everyone learns. I don't fancy university in truth. I know exactly what I want to do — touch wood anyway.
There are still three Harry Potter movies yet to come. Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince, originally scheduled to be released November '08, debuts July 15th, while Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I comes out in November 2010 with Part II following in July 2011. David Yates, who directed Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, directs the remaining three films.
