Twentieth Century Fox didn't have a panel at this year's Comic-Con, but Simon Kinberg, who wrote the ill-fated 2006 sequel X-Men: The Last Stand and produced last year's X-Men: First Class, was on hand to discuss Fox's X-Men franchise. While ostensibly there to help promote Sony's upcoming sci-fi movie Elysium, Kinberg also spoke to ComingSoon about the X-Men: First Class sequel, which Kinberg is writing for First Class director Matthew Vaughn, whose return for the sequel was in question until he was confirmed to return in January. During the interview, Kinberg discussed his relationship with Vaughn and the X-Men franchise.

Two international character posters have been revealed for X-Men: First Class, through French website Filmoshpere (via CinemaBlend). The upcoming prequel to the X-Men trilogy follows the early friendship of Charles Xavier, a.k.a. Professor X (James McAvoy) and Erik Lensherr, a.k.a. Magneto (Michael Fassbender), so the posters for each character proclaim "before he was Magneto" and "before he was Professor X", much like the movie's first trailer.
Magneto's poster shows the character standing in front of what looks to be a concentration camp (an origin also explored in 2000's X-Men), while Professor X is shown in front of what looks to be the eventual Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters. The posters do a decent job of reminding audiences that First Class isn't a sequel to 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand but a prequel set in the 1960s. What it may not do a good of is informing audiences that there are also other X-Men characters included in the movie.

Finally, the first trailer for X-Men: First Class has arrived. Those expecting an action-packed trailer may be a touch disappointed, as the trailer is more interested in introducing the story of the upcoming prequel which follows younger versions of Magneto (Michael Fassbender) and Professor X (James McAvoy) during the 1960s.
There's plenty of eyecandy, however, as the trailer will send the fanboy community drooling for more as it reveals the other mutants in the movie, including January Jones as Emma Frost (in the interrogation room depicted in the recently released photo and later in diamond form), Zoe Kravitz as Angel Salvadore (and her wings), Nicholas Hoult as Beast (with and without fur), Lucas Till as Havok (blasting away), Edi Gathegi as Darwin, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique (changing to her natural blue form), Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Shaw, Jason Flemying as Azazel, as well as non-mutants Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert, and a blink-and-miss shot of Oliver Platt as the Man in Black.

The first (purportedly) official photo from director Matthew Vaughn's adaptation of X-Men: First Class confirms the rumor that the team will wear the yellow and blue costumes from the comic books.
The photo reveals (from left to right) Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert, January Jones as Emma Frost, Jason Flemying as Azazel, Nicholas Hoult as the Beast (in blue fur), Lucas Till as Havok, Zoe Kravitz as Angel Salvadore, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, and James McAvoy as Professor Charles Xavier, a.k.a. Professor X.

Jennifer Lawrence has been on a break from shooting the upcoming comic book prequel X-Men: First Class to promote the DVD release of the critically acclaimed independent Winter's Bone, and recently revealed that the hours of make-up she has to endure to become the blue-skinned shape-shifter Mystique had earned the nickname "Mystink." It wasn't the only part of process that was difficult to adjust to, Lawrence admitted to E! Online. She also had to get used to being mostly naked all day.

Rather than be a sequel to the X-Men trilogy, First Class is a prequel set in the 1960's, focusing on the early friendship between Professor Charles Xavier, a.k.a. Professor X (James McAvoy), and Erik Lensherr, a.k.a. Magneto (Michael Fassbender) and the rift that tears their friendship apart. The U.K.'s Daily Mail have the latest set photos, which depict McAvoy walking through the rain-soaked streets of Oxford with Jennifer Lawrence (who plays shapeshifter Raven Darkhölme, a.k.a. Mystique) and Rose Byrne (who plays Dr. Moira MacTaggert, a love interest of Xavier's in the comic books).
