The promotional campaign for The Expendables 2 has been primarily dedicated to releasing more and more new footage, but after releasing another new trailer to start the month, Lionsgate followed with an explosive poster instead. Getting back on track, the first preview clip from the movie is now online courtesy of AICN.
In the sequel, the 2010 original Expendables add a few newcomers, including Liam Hemsworth as sniper Billy the Kid and Yu Nan as Maggie. The whole team is out for revenge when one of their own is murdered. Not that we're taking bets, but we're willing to gamble (okay, maybe one bet) that Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham are free from the chopping block, and Hemsworth might be too because of his ability to bring a more youthful, born in the '80s not lived through the '80s kind of crowd. Jet Li feels like the more emotional gut-check option because, seriously, who doesn't like Jet Li, but realistically, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, and Terry Crews shouldn't get too comfortable. The preview clip isn't interested in revealing which Expendable lives up to their name, but instead shows Stallone and Statham as Barney Ross and Lee Christmas, respectively, requiring assistance from Hemsworth to get them out of a jam.

The first full-length trailer for the upcoming The Expendables 2 was released last month and provided plenty of action and explosions for Sylvester Stallone and his company of aging action stars to contend with.
The latest trailer is no different, providing plenty of action, and injecting a few moments of humor, including a Terminator joke at Arnold Schwarzenegger's expense, as well as as more footage of Chuck Norris, including a shot of Norris, Schwarzenegger, Stallone, Bruce Willis and Jason Statham all lined up and firing their machine guns before the trailer goes down its long list of stars. There isn't much story revealed, so, if you must know, Expendables 2 sees Stallone and company out for revenge after one of their own is murdered.

Last August, writer-director-actor Sylvester Stallone stuffed enough current and former action stars into The Expendables to win audiences over and earn $274 million worldwide. Stallone instantly started talking about a sequel, using his Twitter to declare he wanted Bruce Willis back as a "supervillain" in the movie.
While we're not entirely sure of his intentions, Willis is back for The Expendables 2, along with fellow Expendables scene partner Arnold Schwarzenegger, with both actors having a more "substantial" role in the sequel, which has an even more expanded cast than the original. Strangely, details on the sequel have been scarce — a plot synopsis was revealed in May and involved the Expendables avenging the death of Mickey Rourke's character Tool, but was quickly dismissed. Fortunately, along with the teaser trailer comes a synopsis as well.
The Expendables are back and this time it's personal... Barney Ross (Stallone), Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), Yin Yang (Jet Li), Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren), Toll Road (Randy Couture) and Hale Caesar (Terry Crews) — with newest members Billy the Kid (Liam Hemsworth) and Maggie (Yu Nan) aboard — are reunited when Mr. Church (Willis) enlists the Expendables to take on a seemingly simple job. The task looks like an easy paycheck for Barney and his band of old-school mercenaries. But when things go wrong and one of their own is viciously killed, the Expendables are compelled to seek revenge in hostile territory where the odds are stacked against them. Hell-bent on payback, the crew cuts a swath of destruction through opposing forces, wreaking havoc and shutting down an unexpected threat in the nick of time — six pounds of weapons-grade plutonium; enough to change the balance of power in the world. But that's nothing compared to the justice they serve against the villainous adversary who savagely murdered their brother. That is done the Expendables way.

Sylvester Stallone's 2010 ode to he-man action movies of yore, The Expendables, was so jam-packed with action icons — from Chinese martial arts superstar Jet Li to WWE Hall of Fame wrestler "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, and everyone in between — that the build-up to The Expendables 2 has pretty much been dominated by speculation over which cast members will be returning and which new action heroes will be joining the sequel. Recent casting rumors run the full gamut of possible additions, from legends like Chuck Norris to teen-favorites like Taylor Lautner, but so far only four members of the original cast have been confirmed: Stallone, Jason Statham, Bruce Willis, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Statham confirmed his appearance in The Expendables 2 at the Toronto International Film Festival, where he was promoting his latest movie, Killer Elite. He went on to say that he didn't know "who the f*ck" else would be joining the cast. He did reveal, however, that the sequel will be going into production in Bulgaria "in two weeks time."

Even though British actor Jason Statham got his start in the Guy Ritchie-directed gangster comedies Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch, he has become the heir apparent to action stars like Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis thanks to his performances in the Transporter and Crank franchises. Statham's status as one of Hollywood's top action stars was even given the seal of approval by Stallone himself when he was hired for a leading role in the action hero-heavy cast of The Expendables. Next up, Statham will be stepping into action movie legend Charles Bronson's shoes in the remake of the 1972 movie The Mechanic. In a recent interview with Collider, Statham talked about working with top-notch talent on The Mechanic, holding out for The Expendables 2, and why shooting action scenes is so much more gratifying than dramatic scenes.

Ever since The Expendables exploded into theaters last August, earning $274 million worldwide, the question has been "what will writer/director star Sylvester Stallone do for a sequel?" Weeks after the movie's release, Stallone asked his Twitter followers what they thought of bringing Bruce Willis back as a villain, but hasn't mentioned too many other details regarding the sequel's plot or cast. So far, it's looking like the some of the original cast are returning.
Jason Statham, who played Stallone's right-hand man Lee Christmas in The Expendable admitted to Collider that he's "very positive" he'll return for the sequel.
Yes I have heard about a sequel and I’d be the first to say yes to a phone call from Sly. I mean, we spoke about it as soon as the movie started to do really well and he says, you know, it would be great to do this again, and if there’s anyone who can do a good sequel it’s Sly Stallone! He’s done a fair amount. Yeah, we had a good time. It’s something I’d like to repeat.

The latest, age-restricted clip shows the pair as they escape from the clutches of South American forces in an effort to rescue their contact (Giselle Itie). You can watch it here.

The latest clip from the movie delivers the action, as it shows Stallone and Jason Statham blowing a South American pier to bits while flying a plane. Now that's more like it.

Sylvester Stallone's latest movie, The Expendables, is a return to the testosterone-driven action movies that many of the movie's cast built their career on. Stallone not only appears in the movie but directed and co-wrote it as well. To do so, he assembled one of the biggest casts of action movie stars to date, including Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke, Jet Li, Steve Austin, Dolph Lundgren,Terry Crews, and Randy Couture. The TV spots for Sylvester Stallone's The Expendables aren't just trying to promote the movie's impressive line-up of action movie stars, but possible selections from the soundtrack as well. The previous TV spot was edited to Thin Lizzy's "The Boys Are Back in Town," while the latest TV spot hums along to Kiss' "Rock and Roll All Nite."
