Abraham Lincoln is a popular figure in movies these days with not one, but three upcoming movies dramatizing the life of the former 16th President of the United States. The first of the three is director Robert Redford's The Conspirator, which is set at the end of Lincoln's life and the trial of those that conspired in the President's assassination, and opens tomorrow, April 15.
2012 will see two movies about Lincoln: first is director Timur Bekmambetov's adaptation of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter which blends historical facts with the President's vendetta to rid the world of vampires, and then, later that year, director Steven Spielberg's biopic Lincoln, which is based on Doris Kearns Goodwin's best-selling book, Team of Rivals, which explored the political battles between Lincoln and his cabinet. While both Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and Lincoln are in different stages of production, the two movies have made significant casting announcements this week.
