Action-Packed New Footage in First X-Men: First Class TV Spot, Plus New Still Images

Though the subtext of nearly every X-Men comic book published by Marvel Comics has to do with the experience of the mutants as outsiders in a society that fears and hates them—with obvious parallels to the struggles of certain minority and fringe groups in our own society—the books would likely be too preachy or too boring if not for the frequent exhibition of the team's super-human mutant abilities. "Powers" are what superhero fans crave and that's what they get in the first TV spot for director Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class.
The new TV spot contains more footage of Prof. X (played by James McAvoy) utilizing a Cerebro prototype to amplify his mental powers and Magneto (Michael Fassbender) using his control of magnetism to pull a submarine out of the ocean. It also contains new footage of Havok (Lucas Till) using a suit to help him focus and control his bio-energy blast (just like in the comics) and Banshee (Caleb Landry Jones) using his sonic scream to soar through the air (also like in the comics).
Additionally, two new still images from the movie have been released. The first is a shot of Magneto during the aforementioned submarine scene. The second is a (nearly) full-body shot of Jennifer Lawrence in the blue, spiny makeup of Mystique. Mystique sports the blue-and-yellow X-Men uniform, which is somewhat surprising considering her camouflage powers really only work when she is naked, a la Rebecca Romijn in the original trilogy of movies (to point out our inner comic book nerd, the costume could actually be part of her camouflage, i.e., skin).
