First "Spy" Photo from the Indian Set of The Dark Knight Rises; What Does It Reveal?

Acclaimed director Christopher Nolan's third and final Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises (TDKR) just went into production today in Jodhpur, India, and already we have our first "spy" photo from the set. While the photo neither confirms nor denies the rumor that title star Christian Bale will not be on set for the start of production, it potentially offers a huge clue to one of the movie's plot threads.
Popular comic book-themed entertainment site SuperHeroHype posted online a photo credited to "local scoopers" that shows Nolan's crew setting up several yards away from what at first appears to be a pool of green slime. In actuality, the "slime" is actually a green screen, which will later be substituted with a computer-generated image. Obviously, we have no way of knowing exactly what that image might end up being. However, when you combine the rumor that this locale was chosen to depict one of the many bases of Batman's enemies from Batman Begins, the League of Shadows, with the fact that actor Josh Pence is said to be playing a younger version of Ra's al Ghul, the leader of the League of Shadows, it's a pretty good bet that what is now a green screen "pool" will turn into one of the most incredible supernatural phenomena in the DC Universe — a Lazarus Pit. In DC Comics canon, Lazarus Pits are "chemical pools" capable of repairing injuries and restoring youth and are the secret to Ra's al Ghul's incredible longevity—Ghul is between 400- and 700-years old, depending upon which Batman comic you read. Of course, this is all just a theory...
Another theory is that what we are seeing may be the source of the drug "Venom" that Bane (Tom Hardy) uses to give himself super-human strength. This seems less likely, unless Nolan plans on combining the two concepts — i.e., Bane's Venom comes from a Lazarus Pit.
It should also be noted that many fans are perpetuating online a rumor that Bale has been seen in India — a rumor most likely started by the unoffical "Official The Dark Knight Rises Community" Facebook page, which claimed earlier today that Bale was seen on set — but there is no corroborating evidence to support their claim. Bale was last seen in public at Heathrow Airport with his family on May 3rd, the day before Nolan and his team arrived in India, but his planned destination remains unknown.
