New Preview Clip and Three TV Spots Debut for X-Men: First Class Plus More from Jennifer Lawrence on Mystique

Next month's release of X-Men: First Class will be the first time fans have seen the characters of Professor X and Magneto since 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand, with the exception of Patrick Stewart's digitized cameo appearance in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. First Class will also see the return of Mystique, who appeared in all three X-Men movies, and Beast, who only appeared in The Last Stand.
Of course, First Class is a prequel set in the 1960s, so the characters will be played by other actors. So instead of Rebecca Romijn reprising her portrayal of Raven Darkholme, a.k.a. Mystique, Jennifer Lawrence (Winter's Bone) playing the part instead. Portrayed as a villain (more or less) in the X-Men movies, Lawrence told IGN that the younger version is more of "a normal teenager" who is "insecure about being a mutant, but she slowly grows to accept it and evolves into herself and starts to love it."
I love characters that evolve and stories that evolve, and that's my favorite part about this entire film — every character goes through an evolution to get to where they are now. We know which side they are on, but with this movie we get to see why. That's what I think is interesting — she's not just a good girl gone bad, she's a good girl that's been hurt and kind of finds a resolve or comfort on this side that she really thinks is right. She doesn't think that she's going to the bad side or the dark side, I think that that was just what made more sense to her. Because at the end of it she realizes that she can't get rid of it. She's tried to be normal her whole life, and this side supports and accepts her totally for who she is.
Lawrence admits that fellow cast member Zoë Kravitz (who plays the Angel Salvadore) has "the best fights" in the movie, but she will at least be near the fights as Mystique will be in the team's famed X-Jet, which Lawrence revealed was initially her favorite sequence.
Well originally the X-Jet, because turning around in the X-Jet is the most fun rollercoaster in the world. But we were there for about three weeks and by the end I just wanted to be out of it. But that was the most fun originally.
Mystique is shown riding in the X-Jet along her fellow X-Men in three new TV spots for First Class, which can be seen below.
Mystique is also included in the prequel's first preview clip, which sees Professor X (James McAvoy), Moira MacTaggert (Rose Byrne) and Mystique attempt to convince the CIA and The Man in Black (Oliver Platt) of mutant existence.
Directed by Matthew Vaughn, First Class co-stars Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Lucas Till as Havok, January Jones as Emma Frost, Edi Gathegi as Darwin, Caleb Landry Jones as Banshee, Jason Flemying as Azazel, and Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Shaw.
