Twilight Star Is Officially an Important, International Actress

Kristen Stewart has just picked up an award for Best Actress at the Milan International Film Festival. She did not win for her role as a vampire's girlfriend, though. Instead she won for her role as a stripper in the indie movie Welcome to the Rileys. It co-stars James Gandolfini who plays a father who decides to take the young stripper under his wing, and this year's best supporting actress winner Melissa Leo is his wife who has refused to leave their house following the death of their daughter.
Stewart told ReelzChannel in an interview that she became interested in working on the movie when she was just 17, but the production didn't start until close to her 19th birthday. Perhaps it was that intervening time that she was allowed to grow as an actress that made the performance award winning.
Stewart had to do some research to prepare for her role. While preparing for the role, Stewart visited several strip clubs. She admitted that she was offered a job at a club one afternoon while observing the dancers, but declined the offer. She did get a chance to get on a pole by taking some pole dancing lessons to prepare for the role.
I did some pole dancing. I got bruises all over my legs. I tore myself up doing it. It sucked.
Of course, Kristen Stewart is best known for playing Bella Swan in the movie adaptation of the Twilight saga. The much anticipated first part ofBreaking Dawn opens November 18.
