Joss Whedon is currently in the thick of principal photography on The Avengers, Marvel Studios' most ambitious comic book adaptation to date and Whedon's first feature directing gig since Serenity in 2005, but it has just been revealed that The Avengers is not the first Marvel movie that Whedon has worked on as a director. In a recent interview from Cannes, Stellan Skarsgård divulged to Empire that the end-of-credits scene in Thor
that he appeared in with Samuel L. Jackson and Tom Hiddleston was actually shot by Whedon and not by Kenneth Branagh. Skarsgård also confirmed that he will be reprising his Thor role in The Avengers.
In addition to directing The Avengers, Whedon also wrote the screenplay for the movie, which brings together heroes from throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe to face a threat too powerful for any one hero to face alone. The all-star cast includes Robert Downey, Jr. as Iron Man, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Captain America, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.
