Stunning Green Lantern Concept Art

Unlike Marvel Studios, which made us wait until several weeks after the release of its latest comic book adaptation, Thor, to see some of the concept art used in the making of the movie, Warner Bros. (WB) has authorized the release of a whole book full of concept art from its new comic book adaptation, Green Lantern. The book, titled Constructing Green Lantern: From Page to Screen, will be released by Universe Publishing on May 31st, nearly three weeks before the release of the movie, but io9 has already posted several photos and hi-res images from the book online, giving us an even earlier look at never-before-seen aliens and alien landscapes from WB's Star Wars of superhero movies.
Initially, io9 merely posted photos of the book's interior pages, which, while not of the greatest quality, showed several alien members of the Green Lantern Corps and Mark Strong in the process of having his Sinestro makeup and prosthetics applied, among other revealing details. However, the pop culture site followed up those photos with several stunning hi-res pieces of concept art showing Oa, the home of the Green Lantern Corps, the evil Parallax fear-entity, Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds) forming a light construct and the new movie version of the Green Lantern power battery.
Green Lantern was directed by Martin Campbell from a script by Michael Green, Greg Berlanti, and Marc Guggenheim. The ring-slinging superhero was created by John Broome and Gil Kane and was first seen in the pages of Showcase #22 (October 1959), but the movie version of the character is more closely related to the 2004 Green Lantern: Rebrith mini-series written by current DC Comics Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns that reintroduced Hal Jordan to the DC Universe after he died trying to save the earth. Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Blake Lively, Temuera Morrison, Angela Bassett, and Academy Award–winner Tim Robbins also star, with Geoffrey Rush voicing the alien Green Lantern Tomar-Re.
