Insidious 2 in the Works?

It's easy to forget amongst the blockbuster movies earning over $100 million at the box office, that one of the most profitable movies of the year is the horror movie Insidious. Directed by James Wan and produced by Paranormal Activity director Oren Peli on a $1.5 million budget, Insidious has earned $69 million worldwide, and that kind of profit margin usually means that a sequel isn't too far away.
ShockTilYouDrop spoke to Insidious producer Jason Blum about a sequel, who admitted, "I wouldn't say we're not considering it."
There's no plan, no release date, nothing like that. I think James feels the same as Oren. Oren was very skeptical about doing a sequel to Paranormal Activity until [screenwriter] Michael [Perry] pitched an idea and it made sense. If [Insidious screenwriter] Leigh [Whannell] comes up with a story that's inventive and you feel like there's a story to tell — as opposed to "let's make another movie and make money" — and he comes up with something James feels is worth making we would do it. And if Leigh doesn't, we won't.
Whannel first collaborated with Wan on the original, 2004 Saw, and the two went on to produce 6 sequels for the popular franchise, with Whannel co-writing the second and third sequels. Something tells us Whannell will be able to come up with an idea for an Insidious sequel.
Insidious opened on April 1 and followed Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne as the parents of a young boy who falls into a coma and is being used by while demons from another dimension attempt to enter our world through his body.
