Shooting Begins on Bryan Singer's Jack the Giant Killer; Synopsis Revealed

New Line has announced that production has begun on Jack the Giant Killer, the 3-D action movie from director Bryan Singer. This comes as no surprise, since, in mid-April, Ewan McGregor was shown wearing his Giant Killer costume in set photos.
Written by Christopher McQuarrie, Darren Lemke, and Mark Bomback, Jack the Giant Killer is a retelling of the "Jack and the Beanstalk" fairy tale, with Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: First Class, which Singer produced) in the title role. While the story is relatively well-known, the official announcement also included the movie's synopsis.
Jack the Giant Killer tells the story of an ancient war that is reignited when a young farmhand unwittingly opens a gateway between our world and a fearsome race of giants. Unleashed on the Earth for the first time in centuries, the giants strive to reclaim the land they once lost, forcing the young man, Jack, into the battle of his life to stop them. Fighting for a kingdom, its people, and the love of a brave princess, he comes face to face with the unstoppable warriors he thought only existed in legend — and gets the chance to become a legend himself.
The cast of Jack the Giant Killer includes Eleanor Tomlinson as Princess Isabelle, Bill Nighy, and John Kassir as the two-headed leader of the giants, Ian McShane as King Brahmwell, Stanley Tucci as the Brahmwell's villainous adviser Lord Roderick, and McGregor as palace guard Elmont.
