RUMOR MILL: Hailee Steinfeld to Play Carrie?

Last month, MGM and Screen Gems announced that they were planning a remake of Brian De Palma's 1975 horror classic Carrie, with Broadways' Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark playwright Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.
While some may find the idea of remaking Carrie to be rather unnecessary, it probably didn't make things better when Stephen King revealed that he thought Lindsay Lohan would be an interesting choice for the title role. As if that wasn't difficult enough for fans of the original, Megan Fox is also reportedly interested in the role as well. Now, there could be another candidate: True Grit's Hailee Steinfeld.
Cinema Blend reports that their "most proven sources" have revealed that the producers of the Carrie remake are looking at Steinfeld as one of the top candidates for the role. Steinfeld is certainly closer to the age of the troubled high school character of Carrie White than both Lohan and Fox, though whether Steinfeld is interested in the part is unknown. Producers are still waiting for Aguirre-Sacasa to finish the script, so until then, Steinfeld can only be considered a possibility at best.
In the meantime, Steinfeld is already attached to a couple other iconic roles, Juliet in an Italian production of Romeo and Juliet as well as the role of Sleeping Beauty in a retelling of the classic fairy tale.
And after those two roles, perhaps then she'll find herself covered in pig blood in the Carrie remake.
