J.K. Rowling Has a Big Announcement... Some Time Next Week
Posted 06.16.11 by Mandy
On Wednesday, Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling sent fans on an Internet scavenger hunt, giving letter-by-letter clues to a project — she specifically stated it's not a book — that she's working on. The author gave coordinates to various international Harry Potter fansites one at a time over a period of two days.
The coordinates revealed "magical" letters on special map when the player zoomed in to the street view. The letters, which were revealed non-sequentially, spell out Pottermore
, which is a website that has... a coming soon message. There is also a YouTube page
that has a countdown — currently 6 days and some odd hours — and a bunch of owls.
So all that running around for an announcement that won't be revealed for a week?
The Leaky Cauldron reports that Pottermore was trademarked in 2009 "for, among other things, multiple-user networks, online boards, digital audio, printed books, toys, retail stores, and more, and more, and more." That really doesn't help to narrow things down.
We're hoping that Jo and Oprah became besties after their interview/conversation last fall and are opening some sort of tropical, private island resort. What do you think it is? Start the guessing below.
