After releasing a teaser poster in May and one in early June, FilmDistrict has finally released an official theatrical poster for co-writer (with Matthew Robbins) and producer Guillermo del Toro's new horror movie, Don't Be Afraid of the Dark. Directed by Troy Nixey (Latchkey's Lament), the movie is a remake of the 1973 made-for-TV movie of the same name and stars Guy Pearce and Katie Holmes as Alex and Kim Hirst, a young couple who unwittingly awaken the evil creatures dwelling beneath the mansion they are renovating, creatures which long to claim Alex's daughter, Sally (Bailee Madison), as one of their own.
In addition to the new theatrical poster, FilmDistrict has also released three new preview clips from the movie. While we don't get to see any of the evil little creatures that terrorize the Hirsts, the preview clips do a convincing job of setting up the eerie tone that will hopefully permeate the rest of the movie.
Don't Be Afraid of the Dark also stars Alan Dale, Jack Thompson and Nicholas Bell. It opens Aug. 26th.
