New (Dark) Photo of Karl Urban as Judge Dredd

Last November, the first photo of Karl Urban in action as Judge Dredd in the upcoming reboot Dredd debuted online. It seemed like a cavalcade of promotional items would follow, but, instead, only a few instances of "spy pics" revealing the South African set of Mega-City One and Dredd's motorcycle were released. Then, nothing.
Still lacking a solid release date, Bleeding Cool has revealed a dark, intense look at Urban as Dredd, the iconic, hardened lawman from John Wagner's Judge Dredd comic book series, and we do mean dark. Don't worry that you can't see Urban's face — unlike the woeful 1995 adaptation that starred Sylvester Stallone, Urban has promised his version of the Dredd character will "keep the helmet on" like he does in the comics.
Produced by Academy Award-winning director Danny Boyle's (Slumdog Millionaire) DNA Films and adapted by frequent Boyle collaborator Alex Garland (28 Days Later,Sunshine), Dredd will follow "a day-in-the-life" of Dredd as he trains his telepathic rookie partner, Judge Anderson (Olivia Thirlby). Lena Headey (300) plays Ma-Ma, a villainous drug dealer. Pete Travis (Vantage Point) directed the movie, which Urban has described as a "very gritty, hardcore, faithful adaptation".
