The Dark Knight Rises Teaser Trailer Officially Debuts
07.18.11 by Ryan
After being released in bootleg form, then pulled off the Internet, the official teaser trailer for The Dark Knight Rises is now online (via ComingSoon).
Starting with footage from director Christopher Nolan's debut Batman movie, Batman Begins, the trailer begins with Liam Neeson's voice dispensing advice like "devoting yourself to an ideal" as he did as Ra's al Ghul in the movie, then changes to Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon in a hospital bed, asking for Batman to come back with flashes of Tom Hardy as Bane while Gotham crumbles just as it appears in the recently released teaser poster.
The sequel to The Dark Knight opens on July 20, 2012, almost an entire year from now. Returning cast members include Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox, Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth, Nestor Carbonell as the mayor of Gotham City and, of course, Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman. New additions include Juno Temple as Holly Robinson, Marion Cotillard as Wayne Enterprises board member Miranda Tate, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as policeman John Blake, Alon Aboutboul as a "mad scientist," Josh Pence as the young Ra's al Ghul, with Brett Cullen, Chris Ellis, Daniel Sunjata, Diego Klattenhoff, and Burn Gorman in supporting roles, and Tom Conti, Josh Stewart and Joey King in as-yet-unspecified roles. Nolan co-wrote the screenplay with his brother Jonathan Nolan, based on a story conceived by the Nolan and David S. Goyer (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight). You can watch the trailer in HD on the movie's Facebook page.
