Writer-director Joe Cornish's debut feature, Attack the Block, was an unknown quantity in the U.S. before it debuted at this year's South by Southwest Festival (SXSW), where it received almost universal praise from all who saw it. Shortly thereafter, the success at SXSW helped the sci-fi movie receive U.S. distribution.
Produced by Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead), Block follows a gang of tough, South London kids who encounter an alien one night and kill it. More aliens come after them, and the kids are forced to protect their neighborhood from the sudden alien invasion.
Last month, Sony Screen Gems released a red band trailer that celebrated the movie's limited release date in the U.S. Now, with the release a little over a week away, the studio has released a brand new trailer that highlights the large amount of praise the movie has received from various sites and movie festivals, as well as a new preview clip.
In the new preview clip, Sam (Jodie Whittaker), a nurse the boys mug prior to the first alien encounter, asks Moses (John Boyega) and the gang if she can join up with them now that aliens are attacking their building.
Attack the Block stars Nick Frost (Paul, Shaun of the Dead), and Luke Treadaway (Clash of the Titans) as well as a variety of newcomers, including Simon Howard, Franz Drameh, Leeon Jones and Alex Esmail. You can meet all the gang members in some character featurettes here.
