Judge Dredd's Costume Revealed on Latest Empire Cover

Comic book movie fans were forced to wait seven months between the release of the first photo of Karl Urban in costume as Judge Dredd in director Pete Travis' Dredd and the release of the second photo, and neither of them showed much more than his head and shoulders. However, nearly the entire costume is revealed on the cover of the latest issue of the British magazine Empire, which features Dredd more prominently than either The Amazing Spider-Man or The Dark Knight Rises (which really isn't that surprising considering Judge Dredd is a British creation).
While the helmet is a spot-on interpretation of the one the character wears in the comic books, many fans are already complaining about the severely diminished shoulder pads and understated green accents. One British commenter even called the design "ropey as f*ck" (slang for extremely poor in quality). At least Urban has got Dredd's classic "everyone is guilty of something" frown down pat.
Olivia Thirlby (Solitary Man) and Lena Heady (300) also star in Dredd, which was produced by Academy Award–winning director Danny Boyle's (Slumdog Millionaire) DNA Films. The screenplay was written by Alex Garland, writer of the Boyle-directed movies 28 Days Later and Sunshine.
