New Movie Posters: Contagion and The Amazing Spider-Man

A new, far more professional looking, poster for Academy Award-winning director Steven Soderbergh's (Traffic) new action-thriller, Contagion, has been released that makes it clear that the viruses depicted on the first poster are going to go global. Written by Scott Burns (The Bourne Ultimatum), Contagion follows an international team of doctors as they try to stop a deadly new virus before it ravages the entire world. Soderbergh has assembled an ensemble cast of superstars for this movie — think of it as the Ocean's Eleven (also directed by Soderbergh) of disaster movies — including Jude Law, Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard, Gwyneth Paltrow, Elliott Gould and Laurence Fishburne. Contagion opens September 9th.
And, a new teaser poster for director Marc Webb's Spider-Man franchise reboot, The Amazing Spider-Man, has also been released. Unfortunately, it's simply the reverse of the second teaser poster that was released last week — this one shows Spidey's chest logo, while the poster released last week showed his back logo — neither of which are as cool as the first teaser poster, which showed Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield) about ready to unleash his webs.
The Amazing Spider-Man was written by James Vanderbilt and Alvin Sargent. The movie takes Peter Parker (Garfield) back to high school and to the fateful day when an irradiated spider bit him, granting him incredible super powers...and all the problems that go with them. The cast includes Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Campbell Scott and Julianne Nicholson as Richard and Mary Parker, Irrfan Khan as Van Atter, Denis Leary as Capt. George Stacy, C. Thomas Howell as Ray, Chris Zylka as Flash Thompson, Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben and two-time Academy Award-winner Sally Field as Aunt May. The Amazing Spider-Man opens July 3, 2012.
