Breaking Bad actor Bryan Cranston's quest for total domination of Hollywood took a step back when he was forced to drop out of period police drama Gangster Squad. However, now Cranston's attempt to appear in every movie in production back on track as he joins the cast of Paramount's adaptation of World War Z.
THR reports Cranston is in negotiations to play a "small but flashy" role in the movie, which was based on Max Brooks' best-selling novel. Little else is known about Cranston's part. Brad Pitt headlines a cast as an U.N. researcher who is trying to learn about the zombie apocalypse ten years after the fact. Cranston joins fellow AMC actors Mireille Enos (The Killing), who plays Pitt's wife in the movie, and James Badge Dale (the canceled Rubicon), who plays a soldier who tries to warn humanity of the zombie uprising.
Adapted by as screenwriters Matthew Michael Carnahan (The Kingdom) and J. Michael Straczynski (Changeling), World War Z is currently in production in the U.K. Some recent set photos depicted Pitt on board of a salvage vessel in Falmouth, Cornwall. Marc Forster is directing the movie, which co-stars Elyes Gabel (HBO's Game of Thrones) and French actress Julia Levy-Boeken in unknown roles.
