Another Bridget Jones? Really?

It looks like it's going to happen. EW reported that a Bridget Jones 3 is in the works. Working Title Films has apparently been considering a third installment since 2009, and has finally decided to go ahead with the project. The London Evening Standard reported in March that author Helen Fielding had been working on the third novel and was in talks for a third movie. At the time she had said that she wasn't sure if the book and movie would be "the same thing." Well, they were barely the same thing for the second Bridget movie, so it seems that the third novel could easily be very different for the third movie.
It's not official, but Colin Firth revealed what the movie could be about in an interview last year.
I can tell you that Bridget and Mark can’t have children, I think that’s the way it goes on. So then she makes the huge mistake of going back to Daniel Cleaver [Hugh Grant's character] for long enough to get pregnant. And I think he dumps her, and she’s left stranded, and guess who comes back to rescue her?
As great as the chemistry between Renee Zellweger, Hugh Grant, and Colin Firth was, this way of putting them all together again would almost surely feel fairly contrived. We're hoping Helen Fielding has something better up her sleeve. The main problem with this plot line is that Bridget Jones from the first book would not have acted this way.
The original Bridget Jones's Diary was a delightful movie adaptation of Fielding's charming novel, which was based on the Jane Austen classic, Pride and Prejudice. Like P&P's Elizabeth Bennett, Bridget Jones was deceived about what kind of man Mr. (Mark) Darcy was, and had no idea how awful his former childhood friend really was. In the second movie, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, though Bridget now knows who these men are, at least we could believe that she would feel insecure when she thought model/actress/Real World housemate Jacinda Barrett's character was after her man. But leaving Mark Darcy just to get knocked up by his worst enemy so she can have a baby? Not buying it.
