The first trailer for the crime thriller The Texas Killing Fields (formerly The Fields) has debuted online in anticipation of its October release.
Based on true events of some brutal murders of women in Texas, Texas Killing Fields stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Sam Worthington as two detectives who team up to solve the mysterious murders before the killer can claim his next victim. Director Danny Boyle was originally set to direct the movie, but left revealing that the script, by former DEA agent Donald F. Ferrarone was "so dark it would never get made". Director Ami Canaan Mann (daughter of Heat director Michael Mann, who produced) took over the movie.
For a more detailed explanation of the plot, check the synopsis for Texas Killing Fields below.
This tense and haunting thriller follows a local homicide detective (Worthington) in a small Texas town and his partner, a transplanted cop from New York City (Dean Morgan), as they track a sadistic serial killer dumping his victims’ mutilated bodies in a nearby marsh locals call "The Killing Fields." The killer changes the game and begins hunting the detectives, teasing them with possible clues at the crime scenes while always remaining one step ahead. When a familiar local girl, Anne (Chloe Grace Moretz), goes missing, the detectives find themselves in a race against time to find the killer and save her life.
If you want to see more of the movie, perhaps even some footage of the murders Worthington and Dean Morgan are trying to solve, there's also a Italian trailer released earlier this month to promote the movie's debut at the Venice Film Festival next month. One warning, though, knowing Italian will be a key to understanding the completely dubbed dialogue.
