Just because you're a princess doesn't mean you live a fairy tale life. That's what we learn about the private life of Princess Diana from her butler and confidant, Paul Burrell, in an exclusive interview.
Burrell opens up about the troubles and personal heartaches she went through in ReelzChannel's Diana at 50. The special, marking what would have been the princess' 50th birthday, examines the iconic life, death, and legacy of Diana, Princess of Wales, from her charity work to her fashion and family life. The special is hosted by Dayna Devon.
Burrell, who met Diana when she was 18, talks about his relationship with the princess.
My relationship with the princess was very close. In fact, it was unique, as the Queen so succinctly said at Buckingham Palace, 'Paul, no one has been as close to a member of my family as you have.'
Burrell goes on to talk about the troubled marriage between Diana and Prince Charles.
Prince Charles was not kind to his wife. He wasn't very understanding to his wife and at times I felt very, very sorry for the princess who was just mentally tortured in lots of ways.
Catch the rest of Burrell's interview when the Diana at 50 special airs Saturday, Aug. 27, at 7 PM ET / 4 PM PT. ReelzChannel is 299 on Dish, 238 on DirecTV, and available on your cable system.
