Apollo 18 Preview Clip

After numerous delays, the "found-footage" sci-fi horror movie Apollo 18 (think "The Blair Witch Project on the moon") from producer Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted) will open in theaters next week and Dimension Films has released a new preview clip to help promote its debut.
Written by Brian Miller and directed by Gonzalo López-Gallego, Apollo 18 takes place in December 1974 and centers around a mission to the moon that NASA claims never took place. NASA cancelled the program after Apollo 17, but the movie proposes that there was another mission, an 18th mission, and that the astronauts (played by Lloyd Owen and Warren Christie) who landed on the moon discovered that it was already occupied...by something deadly.
It's hard to decipher truth from fiction when it comes to the promotion of Apollo 18 (as Dimension prefers, no doubt), but this video is said to be somehow connected to the movie. The video, purportedly shot on the moon in the Lunar Module by a NASA astronaut named "William Rutledge," shows a female EBE (extra-terrestrial biological entity) in a state of suspended animation. Some claim that it is the inspiration for Miller's story, while others claim that is a "viral" video produced by Bekmambetov to promote Apollo 18.
The video first appeared online in 2007, which makes it unlikely that it was produced for Apollo 18, but it is possible that the footage was acquired by Dimension for use in the movie or to promote the movie. If that turns out to be the case, then it would mean that Dimension head Bob Weinstein wasn't necessarily fudging when he declared that the Apollo 18 footage was "found, baby," just that it was found on the internet and not in NASA archives.
