With its Don't Be Afraid of the Dark remake opening today, Miramax is giving audiences one last marketing push, unveiling a final red band trailer as well as a preview clip.
Originally made as a 1973 TV movie, the remake stars Guy Pearce and Katie Holmes as a young couple trying to renovate an older, Gothic home. When Pearce's daughter Sally (Bailee Madison) is sent to live with them by her mother, she soon discovers that small creatures are living in the basement. Unfortunately for Sally, they don't want to be friends.
For the movie's final preview clip, Kim (Holmes) tells Sally (Madison) a story about the koi fish that live in the fountain on the grounds of the house.
Guillermo del Toro produced and co-wrote the R-rated movie with Matthew Robbins and, at last year's Comic-Con, lamented the movie's rating. "They gave us an R for 'pervasive scariness,'" said del Toro at the time. "We asked them if there's anything we could do, and they said, 'why ruin a perfectly scary movie?'"
Don't Be Afraid of the Dark is the directorial debut for comic book artist Troy Nixey and co-stars Alan Dale, Jack Thompson and Nicholas Bell.
