Hugh Jackman Featured on 2 New Posters for Real Steel

Usually when Hugh Jackman headlines a movie, his well-recognized mug is plastered all over the posters and other materials used to promote the movie. However, when Touchstone Pictures released the first poster for Jackman's new sci-fi movie, Real Steel, the Aussie actor was nowhere to be found, making it pretty clear that the studio considered the robot at the heart of the drama to be the real star of the movie.
The first international poster that was released shortly after the domestic poster at least included Jackman on it, though only in dark shadow, and from behind. Now Jackman is finally getting his due, thanks to a new domestic poster and a new international poster, both of which put Jackman front-and-center where he belongs.
Real Steel was directed by Shawn Levy (Date Night). The screenplay was written by John Gatins, from a story by Dan Gilroy and Jeremy Leven, and is based on the 1956 short story "Steel" by prolific author and screenwriter Richard Matheson, whose works have inspired such movies as Stir of Echoes, What Dreams May Come and I Am Legend, to name a few.
The movie takes place in the near future, when human fighters have been replaced by much more powerful — and expendable — robots in the ring. Jackman plays Charlie Kenton, one of the many fighters who was retired when robots took over the sport. Forced to promote his robotic replacements on the robot boxing circuit, Charlie hits rock bottom when his last robot is demolished in a fight. Now, with no money and no options, Charlie places his fate in the hands of the fighting fists of the sparring robot that he and his estranged son (Dakota Goyo) found in a junk heap. Evangeline Lilly, Kevin Durand, Anthony Mackie, Hope Davis, James Rebhorn and Olga Fonda also star.
