The Avengers Destroy New York in Latest Set Videos; More Set Photos of the Heroes in Action Debut

Last month, parts of downtown Cleveland was transformed to look like New York City's 42nd Street for Marvel's upcoming production of the The Avengers. As seen in several recent set photos, writer-director Joss Whedon and his cast and crew have moved the production to the real New York City, where the intent on creating chaos coming from the superhero team's as-yet-to-be-officially named adversaries continues.
The Cleveland shoot was described as setting the stage for "some kind of battle," which included extras running from a series of explosions, and, once The Avengers set up shop in the actual 42nd Street, the explosions and running was captured again in some new "spy" videos. The difference? A little less flames (we're guessing that's because it's cheaper to blow up Cleveland than New York City).
Both SuperheroHype and Bleeding Cool have set photos from the shoot, which shows more destroyed cars amidst the rubble and also had Whedon (duh) and Captain America (Chris Evans) nearby.
Even more set videos are below which show off a better look at the glass-shattering explosions.
While set photos of the action in New York have been bountiful, even more photos have arrived from Bauer Griffin Online, showing Cap (Evans) running alongside Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), and others depicting tension between Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston).
With the New York part of the production finished, The Avengers can now concentrate on finishing post-production for its 2012 release date. Joining Evans, Hemsworth, Johansson and Renner in a fight we now will include at least Hiddleston as Loki, will be fellow Avengers Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Bruce Banner, a.k.a. the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson).
