Nike Introduces Back to the Future Shoes [video]

UPDATE:Nike unveiled the trailer for the new Nike Air Mag (yes, a trailer for a shoe). So the future is coming true. The bad news: Only 1,500 pairs are being produced and they're all being auctioned on eBay (so, go ahead and break open that piggy bank). The good news: All the proceeds are going to Michael J. Fox Foundation. McFly himself is scheduled to appear on Letterman tonight for an official unveiling.
This is heavy, Doc!
The dream of every kid who grew up in the '80s and watched Back to the Future II is about to come true. Nike is supposedly set to release futuristic shoes with power laces just like the ones Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) wore in in the 1989 movie.
Earlier in the day, Cinema Blend reported that producer BTTF Frank Marshall tweeted a very cryptic message.
"Something big is coming soon. Can't say anything yet. No one should know too much about their own destiny. #BTTF
At first, fans thought he was hinting about a possible remake or new Back to the Future movie but he soon then tweeted a video that put to bed any speculation. It was a Nike ad showing a roomful Nike Air Mags, the same shoes from the movie.
No description will do the ad justice so watch for yourself.
And if you needed more proof, Matt Halfhill at Nice Kicks is reportedly at a Nike event where the company will soon reveal the Nike Air Mags. The shoe company has been working on the shoes for awhile, evident in a patent filing last year.
Can this really be true? Can those shoes from the future really be on our feet soon? If so, it only begs the question — when do we get our hoverboards?
If you need a reminder how awesome these kicks are, check out the video of Marty lacing up his Nikes. "Power laces, alright!"
