Jaime King Confirms Sin City 2 Re-Write, Says She Has a Role in the Sequel

The long-awaited sequel to Sin City, director Robert Rodriguez's gritty, stylized adaptation of Frank Miller's neo-noir comic book series, finally appears to be making some progress after gestating for the past six years. At the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) in July, Rodriguez revealed Miller had completed the script and Sin City 2 "could shoot as early as later this year." Then, two weeks ago, THR reported that Academy Award-winning screenwriter William Monahan (The Departed) had been hired to perform re-writes on Miller's script. There has been no word on Monahan's possible invovlement from Rodriguez or his Troublemaker Studios production company, but actress Jaime King, who played the dual roles of Goldie and Wendy in Sin City, basically confirmed Monahan's hiring in a recent interview with IAmRogue. She also revealed that she will have a part in Sin City 2.
That's what I've been told, yes. I hear so many things, between the cast and Robert, and Frank, because Frank's like my brother. They hired a new writer, an Oscar-winning writer, to work on the draft.
Rodriguez previously revealed that, like the first movie, Sin City 2 will primarily be told in three short stories, one of them based on "A Dame to Kill For," Miller's 1993 miniseries. At SDCC, he disclosed the other two stories were original stories written by Miller just for the movie and that one is called "The Long, Bad Night." When asked whether anything has changed in terms of story or story structure with a new writer on board, King admitted she didn't know, but said it will be a Miller story regardless.
I don't know for sure, now, because they're having a new writer come on. But my understanding, it was kind of a melange of the original work of what Frank has done, but everything always comes from Frank, you know what I mean? So even if someone else is writing the physical script, it will always be Frank Miller's ideas.
King did not reveal which character or characters she might be playing in Sin City 2, but it's likely she will be reprising the roles of both Goldie and Wendy. Despite the fact Goldie died in "The Hard Goodbye" story segment in Sin City, Miller has admitted that the story will "jump around a bit" and be both a prequel and a sequel, which could mean Goldie is still alive and kicking for at least part of Sin City 2.
As far as other possible cast members, we can only speculate based on the known source material, Miller's "A Dame to Kill For" miniseries. Assuming the majority of the miniseries makes its way into the final script and Rodriguez doesn't recast anyone, we can assume we will also see the return of Mickey Rourke as Marv, Michael Clarke Duncan as Manut, Rosario Dawson as Gail and Jessica Alba as Nancy. It's unclear whether Clive Owen would return as Dwight since he played the character post-plastic surgery in Sin City.
