First Trailer for Premium Rush Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Michael Shannon

It's been several years since a bicycle messenger movie has been released — 1986's Quicksilver to be exact. Writer-director David Koepp (Stir of Echoes, Secret Window) has used the world of New York bicycle messengers as the setting for his latest thriller, Premium Rush.
Starring the currently ubiquitous Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Inception, the upcoming The Dark Knight Rises), Premium Rush follows a risk-taking bike messenger named Wilee (Gordon-Levitt) whose latest package gains the interest of a crooked cop (Michael Shannon) and starts a dangerous and deadly pursuit that continues throughout the city. The thriller won't come out until next year, so the first trailer is the best peek at the movie until the marketing campaign kicks into gear (get it?) at the end of the year.
Before watching the trailer, here's the full synopsis below.
Dodging speeding cars, crazed cabbies, open doors, and eight million cranky pedestrians is all in a day’s work for Wilee, the best of New York’s agile and aggressive bicycle messengers. It takes a special breed to ride the fixie — super lightweight, single-gear bikes with no brakes and riders who are equal part skilled cyclists and suicidal nutcases who risk becoming a smear on the pavement every time they head into traffic.
But a guy who’s used to putting his life on the line is about to get more than even he is used to when a routine delivery turns into a life or death chase through the streets of Manhattan. When Wilee picks up his last envelope of the day on a premium rush run, he discovers this package is different. This time, someone is actually trying to kill him.
Premium Rush opens Jan. 13 and co-stars Dania Ramirez (Quarantine) and Jamie Chung (The Hangover Part II). Koepp also co-wrote the screenplay with John Kamps. The pair previously collaborated on the 2008 comedy Ghost Town.
