Fast and the Furious 6 to Delay Terminator 5?

After years of being mired in rights issues that have held up future sequels, it finally started to look like the Terminator franchise was getting back on track. But with the movie finally progressing through high profile casting news, meetings, and date-setting, a scheduling roadblock might put the kibosh on Skynet's return.
According to Deadline, Schwarzenegger (who recently signed on to return to the franchise he is famous for) and Terminator rights holder Megan Ellison want to start shooting Terminator 5 by the end of next year, a time that director Justin Lin (Fast Five) can't commit to because he will be too busy with The Fast and the Furious 6. Of course, Lin does have a solution: as long as Schwarzenegger and Ellison completely reverse their production plans, he would be available to direct.
There's another reason to wait on Terminator 5. Despite meeting with James Cameron to hash out ideas, there's still no script for the fifth installment, so it's possible that Terminator 5 won't be made by the end of next year no matter what. Looks like Hollywood still hasn't found a way to make a big budget, blockbuster sequel without a script. Give them time.
Deadline claims that a reason for the hasty push to begin production on Terminator 5 is also rights related. Due to some stipulation Cameron included in the rights back in the day, the Terminator rights will revert back to Cameron by 2018. That still leaves quite a few years for two Terminator movies to be made, even if Terminator 5 doesn't start shooting until 2013.
