Chris Evans Says No Captain America 2 Until 2014

This summer saw the release of comic book adaptations Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger, with both performing well enough to be granted sequels. However, while Thor 2 already has a July 26, 2013, release date, Captain America 2 does not. In an interview with The Playlist, Captain America himself, Chris Evans, revealed that a sequel wasn't likely until 2014.
They may wait until 2014 until they release the next Cap. Marvel has a lot of balls in the air, they aren’t going to cannibalize their films.
This isn't exactly a surprise. Last month, Marvel Studios announced the 2014 release dates for two unannounced movies, sending fanboys scrambling to guess which property Marvel might adapt next. Our best guess was Captain America 2, since First Avenger screenwriters Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus are already working on story ideas for the sequel. A sequel to 2012's The Avengers is also possible, but probably too soon.
Captain America 2 would likely be the next time fans see Evans in the Cap role, since Evans says he is under contract for three Captain America movies and 3 Avengers movies, and isn't likely to appear in Thor 2 or Iron Man 3 — unless Marvel decides they don't care about a potential renegotiating problem. "Out of those six films, if I pop up in one of those [other films], it counts as part of the deal," explained Evans. "So if they needed me in a third Cap, and I say, 'F**k you, give me $30 million,' well ... they want to avoid that."
As for what might happen in Captain America 2, McFeely and Markus have mentioned that Cap could "go back to World War II", though, since The Avengers is the start of Cap's assimilation to the present day, those scenes would likely be told in "flashbacks." The writer have expressed interest in including other Captain America comic book characters like the Falcon and Sharon Carter, and even MODOK as a possible villain, but, as of now, all talk of Captain America 2 is purely speculation.
Until another Captain America is confirmed, fans can continue to debate the many outfits Evans has worn as the character. After donning three in The First Avenger, "spy" set photos recently revealed his new costume for The Avengers, which is finally more in line with what the character wears in the comic book. "You always look so horrible in those pictures," Evans admitted in the interview. "I just stopped looking at them. There’s no way to look good in those photos."
