A little over a week ago, it was announced that Denzel Washington was cast in director Robert Zemeckis' Flight, the first live-action movie for Zemeckis (Back to the Future) since 2000's Castaway. More cast members have reportedly booked their ticket.
According to Moviehole, Don Cheadle (Iron Man 2) and Bruce Greenwood (Star Trek) have joined the cast of the upcoming thriller, which sees Washington as a pilot who saves most of the passengers on a commercial airline flight after a malfunction but is eventually investigated after it is discovered that he drank the night before the flight. Cheadle and Greenwood's roles are unspecified at this time.
John Gatins (Real Steel) wrote the script for Flight, which goes into production in Atlanta this October. Kelly Reilly (Sherlock Holmes) is already set to play a drug addict who befriends Washington as they both battle their dependency issues.
reports Casey Affleck
is preparing to fight the good fight in Paradise Lost
, the adaptation of John Milton
's 17-century poem. Bradley Cooper
is set to play Lucifer, with Benjamin Walker
cast as the chief archangel Michael and Djimon Hounsou
as Abdiel, the angel of death. Affleck will play the angel Gabriel
Alex Proyas (The Crow) is set to direct the heavenly epic, which will follow Lucifer after his rebellion against God and his attempt to corrupt humanity. Speaking of, the report also states that Camilla Belle (10,000 BC) has been offered the role of Eve, who is tempted and eventually commits original sin after eating from the Tree of Knowledge, while Diego Boneta is the frontrunner for Adam.
Shooting on Paradise Lost will take place this fall in Australia, and isn't likely to hit theaters until 2013.
Michelle Rodriguez played a role in 2002's Resident Evil, but, unfortunately, her character didn't fare as well as Milla Jovovich's Alice. That doesn't seem to be preventing her from appearing in the fifth installment in the Resident Evil franchise, the upcoming Resident Evil: Retribution.
Bloody-Disgusting reports Rodriguez will reprise her role as Rain Ocampo in Retribution, though how she will return is unknown. Jovovich has taken to her Twitter to not only confirm Rodriguez's return but also that of Oded Fehr, who played Carlos Olivera in 2004's Resident Evil: Apocalypse but sacrificed himself in 2007's Resident Evil: Extinction.
BTW! Sienna Guillory, Oded Fehr & Michelle Rodriguez are coming in THIS WEEKEND to start work on Monday! It's all happening!
Guillory had already been confirmed to reprise her role as Jill Valentine from Apocalypse and, briefly, in 2010's Resident Evil: Afterlife. The report also claims that Shawn Roberts will return as his Afterlife character of Albert Wesker in Retribution, but only for a cameo.
Plenty of familiar faces are turning up in Retribution. Boris Kodjoe recently confirmed his return as Afterlife character Luther, while Colin Salmon, who played the character One in the first Resident Evil, also confirmed his return, though, again, he would not mention how. We would guess that the Umbrella Corporation has found a way to clone humans, but that's only a guess.
Resident Evil franchise writer-director-producer Paul W.S. Anderson will write and direct Retribution, which will head into production next month for a Sept. 14, release date.
(Let Me In
) is joining the cast of One Shot
, the adaptation of author Lee Child
One Shot stars Tom Cruise as former Military Police Officer-turned-drifter Jack Reacher, who investigates the death of five people, shot by a lone sniper. According to the report, Jenkins will play the district attorney who prosecutes the sniper. Roasmund Pike (Surrogates) will go up against Jenkins, as she was cast in August as the attorney who defends the man arrested for the shootings.
One Shot was written and will be directed by
Christopher McQuarrie (Valkyrie, The Usual Suspects), and will start production in Pittsburgh this fall. David Oyelowo (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) will co-star.
