Ada Wong Cast in Resident Evil: Retribution; Set Accident Injures Extras

It's been an up and down day for the production of Resident Evil: Retribution, the latest installment of the popular horror franchise.
Things started out well, with franchise star Milla Jovovich letting fans know via her Twitter that the role of Ada Wong, a character well-known to fans of the video game, had finally been cast.
Drum roll please! So, Ada Wong in RE5 is being played by Chinese actress Li Bingbing! We're so excited! Check her out on imdb!
After that, things went downhill, with THR reporting that a platform in the Toronto studio where the production has set up collapsed on 16 extras, sending ten to the hospital. The extras were all playing zombies in the movie and were moving from one area of the soundstage to another when the accident occurred.
"It is with regret that we confirm this unfortunate accident," the sequels producers said in a statement. "The thoughts of everyone involved in the production are with those who have been injured, and we hope that all have a quick and complete recovery."
Jovovich described the incident on Twitter.
Hey every1, it's been a horrible day here at "camp evil". As a lot of u hve heard, there was an accident n a bunch of our amazing zombie extras fell in a chase sequence. One incredibly brave woman is still in the hospital, but she is recovering well, thank the Lord. The good news is, all our other extras came back after receiving medical attention at different hospitals and wanted to continue shooting! So that made us feel better to see how passionate they are! We are praying for akiko, who is still in the hospital n will go see her in a little while to make sure she's feeling ok. Oh man. I've been feeling sick to my stomach all day waiting for news on how she is. Please pray for her too!
Jovovich later said that the extra she visited was "not in critical condition." One of the other background actors suffered a cracked rib, while a second sustained a stress fracture of the tibia. No one suffered a life-threatening injury.
Paul W.S. Anderson is back in the director's chair for Retribution, after writing and directing last year's Resident Evil: Afterlife, which was the most successful movie of the franchise. Jovovich reprises her franchise role of Alice along with several familiar faces from the entire franchise, including Sienna Guillory as Jill Valentine, Michelle Rodriguez as Rain Ocampo, Oded Fehr as Carlos Olivera, Boris Kodjoe as Luther, and Colin Salmon as One.
