James Cameron Explains How Sigourney Weaver Will Be Back For Avatar 2

Sigourney Weaver recently revealed that her Avatar character Grace "will be back" for Avatar 2, just as she intimated last December. There could be a surprising revelation or two in this post for anyone that has yet to see Avatar, and if you are among those four or five people, we're sorry to have spoiled it for you.
As for how Weaver will return for a sequel, Vulture talked to James Cameron about how he could bring back a deceased character, to which Cameron responded with his usual sarcasm: "Have you ever heard of nonlinear storytelling?"
A lot happens on that planet before she shows up, and before Jake [Sam Worthington] shows up to join her. She’s there for fifteen years ahead of time. I don’t know, but I wouldn’t jump to conclusions. And I’ve already said way too much about Avatar 2 and 3 here and there, but people piece it together like those voice cameos and tell the whole story! Okay, here’s the deal. When you have a science-fiction series, a science-fiction franchise, you’re never dead, unless your DNA is expunged from the universe. And then there’s always time travel!
Cameron confirmed that his next two movies will be the Avatar sequels, keeping him busy for the next "five years". What the sequels will be about is unknown, though producer Jon Landau confirmed that last year that Pandora's oceans will play some kind of role in the sequel. Landau also revealed that Avatar 2 will start where the first Avatar ended.
Cameron has said that he plans to shoot Avatar 2 and 3 back-to-back for release around Christmas 2014 and 2015, respectively.
