Several new posters for upcoming movies have arrived online, including one for the thriller Contraband. The movie stars Mark Wahlberg as a former smuggler who has gone legit, but, as things usually go for a former criminal in movies, he is forced to return to the business when his brother-in-law (Caleb Landry Jones) runs into trouble. The poster for the movie shows that Wahlberg isn't going back to work quietly and may be looking to grab something for himself in the process of helping out his brother-in-law.
Contraband, which opens on January 13, 2012, is a remake of the 2008 Icelandic thriller Reykjavík-Rotterdam, and the cast includes Giovanni Ribisi, Ben Foster, Kate Beckinsale, J.K. Simmons and Lukas Haas.
The thriller was directed by Baltasar Kormákur, who starred in and produced the Icelandic original. The first trailer for Contraband was released in September to good online buzz, prompting Universal to hire Kormákur for its upcoming comic book adaptation 2 Guns, also starring Wahlberg.
There's also a new poster for the upcoming sequel/reboot The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D.
Taking place immediately after director Tobe Hooper's 1974 original, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D will ignore the other sequels, prequels and reboots as it follows Heather (Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief's Alexandra Daddario), who travels to a small Texas town to seek out her inheritance and learns that her cousin is Leatherface (played by newcomer Dan Yeagar).
The movie will have plenty of familiar faces for fans of the franchise, including Gunnar Hansen, who first played the role of Leatherface in the original Massacre, making a small cameo, and Marilyn Burns, who played the lead role in the original, also making an appearance. John Dugan, who played Grandfather Sawyer in the original, will be reprising his role for the first time, while Bill Moseley, who played Choptop in Hooper’s 1983 sequel The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2, will play Drayton Sawyer, a role originally portrayed by the late Jim Siedow. The rest of the cast includes Tania Raymonde (Lost), Keram Malicki-Sanchez (John Q), Shaun Sipos (Final Destination 2), Scott Eastwood (Flags of Our Fathers) and R&B singer Trey Songz.
Under the direction of John Luessenhop (Takers), The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D was shot in Louisiana over the summer and will open on October 5, 2012.
Just like the trailer that was released in September, the poster for the upcoming thriller The Grey focuses solely on Liam Neeson, who plays the leader of a group of oil-rig workers who find themselves stranded in the Alaskan wild after their plane crashes. The movie does have a supporting cast, which includes Frank Grillo (Warrior), Dermot Mulroney (My Best Friend's Wedding), Dallas Roberts (3:10 To Yuma), Joe Anderson (The Crazies), James Badge Dale (the upcoming World War Z, HBO’s The Pacific), and Nonso Anozie (Conan The Barbarian), but it's Neeson who seems to be in the bulk of the story.
Based on the short story "Ghost Walkers" by Ian Mackenzie Jeffers, The Grey reunites Neeson with his The A-Team director Joe Carnahan, who co-wrote the movie with Jeffers. The Grey opens on on January 27, 2012.
