Russell Crowe's Jor-El to Battle Michael Shannon's Zod in Man of Steel

Marlon Brando didn't see much action when he played Jor-El, Superman's biological father, in 1978's Superman, but in the upcoming franchise reboot, Man of Steel, it looks like Russell Crowe will see more action while playing the same character. The actor revealed that Jor-El will fight against General Zod (played by Michael Shannon) — who was sentenced to the Phantom Zone in the 1978 adaptation based on evidence provided by Jor-El — in a message on his Twitter.
15km bike ride, umpteen hours fighting Michael Shannon. He's very hard to put down.
When asked by one of his Twitter followers what the result of the fight was (good question, @HMack3), Crowe replied, "Hard to tell who wins, we are still fighting tomorrow."
That seems like a pretty decent battle between the two, which must be why Crowe often steps out of Man of Steel's Vancouver studio to enjoy a cigarette in full costume.
Arriving on June 14, 2013, Man of Steel is being directed by Zack Snyder (Watchmen) from a script written by David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight). Goyer conceived the story with producer Christopher Nolan (Inception, The Dark Knight Rises). The Man of Steel cast includes Amy Adams as Lois Lane; Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as Superman's adoptive parents Jonathan and Martha Kent; Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, editor-in-chief of the Daily Planet; Ayelet Zurer as Superman's biological mother Lara Lor-Van; and Antje Traue as Faora.
