A second trailer has arrived for Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, which reveals new footage and more information on the plot of the upcoming sequel.
After being disavowed and framed for a terrorist bombing on the Kremlin, Impossible Mission Force (IMF) agent Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) has to assemble a crew of fellow disavowed agents (the returning Simon Pegg (Mission: Impossible III) along with newcomers Paula Patton (Precious), and Jeremy Renner (Hurt Locker, the upcoming The Avengers) to clear the agency's name as well as their own. The plot-line, which basically borrows a page from 1996's Mission: Impossible, ostensibly explains the absence of computer hacker character Luther Stickell (Ving Rhames) who has been a staple of the previous three Mission: Impossible movies.
The new trailer again showcases the Burj Khalifa tower sequence, revealing Cruise's motivation for suspending himself on the outside of the world's tallest building.
Ghost Protocol marks the live-action directorial debut of Brad Bird (The Incredibles) and was produced by Mission: Impossible III director J.J. Abrams, who helped create the story (or helped borrow it) with screenwriters Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec. Josh Holloway (Lost), Vladimir Mashkov (Behind Enemy Lines), Michael Nyqvist (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo), and Anil Kapoor (Slumdog Millionaire) co-star.
