21 Jump Street Red Band Trailer Debuts

The first footage from Columbia Pictures' remake of 21 Jump Street has been revealed in a new, 3-minute red band trailer. The message is clear, this is not going to be a particularly faithful adaptation of the FOX TV series that ran from 1987 to 1991, even if it borrows the show's storyline.
The movie version stars Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill as two police officers who are recruited into the Jump Street undercover unit. There, the two pretend to be high school students despite the fact that neither of them, particularly Tatum, look like high school students (a fact that comes up in the trailer about a dozen times). Dave Franco plays the high school drug dealer they are trying to catch, while Ice Cube plays the unit's chief. There's no sign however of Johnny Depp, who starred in the original Fox show and reportedly shot a cameo for the movie.
The 21 Jump Street remake was conceived by Hill and written by Scott Pilgrim vs. the World screenwriter Michael Bacall. Phil Lord and Chris Miller (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs) direct. Ellie Kemper (Bridesmaids), Brie Larson (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World), and Rob Riggle (The Other Guys) also star.
