New Poster for Underworld: Awakening Promises Vengeance

So far, the marketing campaign for the upcoming sequel Underworld: Awakening has been primarily focused on promoting Kate Beckinsale's return to role of the vampire Selene. Both the first and second trailers have concentrated on Beckinsale's return to the franchise, her first since 2006's Underworld: Evolution. The actress basically skipped the 2009 prequel Underworld: Rise of the Lycans and only appeared in a re-used scene and a voice over.
A new domestic poster focuses solely on Selene and carries the tagline, "Vengeance returns." In Awakening, Selene wakes from a long coma to discover that she has a lycan/vampire hybrid daughter (India Eisley) who is being hunted by humanity. Selene turns to a sympathetic police detective (Michael Ealy) for help in order to bring down the evil BioCom corporation (no relation to Resident Evil's Umbrella Corporation).
Even Underworld: Awakening's official synopsis is focused on Beckinsale.
Kate Beckinsale, star of the first two films, returns in her lead role as the vampire warrioress Selene, who escapes imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan clans, and are conducting an all-out war to eradicate both immortal species.
Awakening was written by John Hlavin (TV's The Shield) with rewrites by J. Michael Straczynski (Changeling) and was directed by Swedish directing team Mans Marlind and Björn Stein (Shelter). Len Wiseman, Beckinsale's husband and the director of the first two Underworld movies, produced Awakening, which co-stars Stephen Rea (The Crying Game), Charles Dance (Game of Thrones), and Theo James (Red Tails).
