After a lengthy delay due to MGM's financial troubles, the long-awaited 23rd movie in the James Bond franchise, Skyfall, finally went into production two weeks ago. To commemorate the event, a photo of the first slate was posted on the official Twitter account for the movie, revealing the setting for the first scene to be a dingy bathroom. Then, on day ten, another slate shot was posted, revealing a stark room, but little more.
Now, thanks to the ever-present paparazzi, we have our first look at franchise star Daniel Craig as (a slightly grizzled) 007, the Secret Intelligence Service agent with a "license to kill," from the Trafalgar Square, London, set of Skyfall.
Skyfall is currently in production under the direction of Sam Mendes (Revolutionary Road). It was written by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade (Quantum of Solace, Casino Royale) and John Logan (The Aviator). Returning cast members include Dame Judi Dench as M and Rory Kinnear as Bill Tanner, M's chief of staff. New recruits include Naomie Harris as Miss Moneypenny, Javier Bardem as the unnamed villain, and Albert Finney as "a Foreign Office mandarin with powers over the Secret Intelligence Service." Ralph Fiennes, Helen McCrory, Ben Whishaw and model Bérénice Marlohe also star in unspecified roles.
