Nov. 22, will always been a day that takes America's consciousness back to that fateful day in 1963 in Dallas.
Today marks the 48th anniversary of President JFK's assassination. To reenact an event that is familiar with nearly everyone, Joel Surnow, executive producer of The Kennedys, knew the miniseries had to be historically accurate.
There was a lot of research that went in to it but Stephen Kronish, the writer, has spent a lifetime, the past 40 years, reading and researching The Kennedys just out of his own personal interest, so we basically had a Kennedys scholar from the beginning.
In the miniseries, Greg Kinnear portrayed Jack Kennedy and Katie Holmes played Jackie Kennedy. Holmes said the Kennedys crew succeeded in retelling the events of the Kennedys family, including JFK's assassination.
I think that everyone did an incredible job and it really helped to make the whole thing seem very real.
The Kennedys won 5 Emmys, including Best Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie for Barry Pepper, who played RFK. The Kennedys, an eight-hour movie event, reached 7.7 million viewers during its premiere week.
